Materials and workmanship
Wood - All Norman exterior shutters are made from the highest quality sustainably managed Western Red Cedar. Western Red Cedar has twice the stability of most softwood’s as a result of its low density and resistance to shrinkage. It lies flat, stays straight, and holds fastenings tightly making it the ideal wood for external shutters.
Well known as one of the world’s most durable woods, Western Red Cedar’s natural resistance to moisture, decay and insect damage has long made this species the premier choice for exterior building and joinery applications
Manufacturing – Our exterior wood shutter programs are classically handcrafted with mortise and tenon wood peg joinery. Custom built with the same construction techniques of days when workmanship was highly prized
Stiles - Reinforced engineered stiles with multiple layers of wood bonded together to reinforce stability from the core of the stile which ensures a robust and durable shutter panel
Finish – Cedar shutters are professionally coated after the manufacturing process providing long term protection from the elements by a choice of durable oil based stains or solid colour paint systems

Colours - Available in 48 lacquer and oil stain colours plus custom colours on request to match RAL colour charts or existing paint work
Louvres - A selection of louver sizes fixed in the closed, semi-open or open position depending on the shutter model providing varying aspects of view, light, ventilation and privacy
Stile/Rail options - Multiple stile designs and sizes to accommodate different shutter panel designs and functions. Continuous top rail design is available for Northern European markets
Shutter options – A wide range of shutter panel designs including louver, solid and board and batten shutters . Also, Norman offer combination panels for some standard designs plus arched and other special shaped shutters for those special projects
Norman exterior shutters are architecturally sympathetic to traditional and contemporary shutter designs of Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Holland and Greece
Making shutters simple
Convenience - All Norman exterior shutters are custom made and fully finished ready for immediate installation and appreciation. No need for costly and time consuming finishing on site
Installation – Norman can install our customer’s nominated hinge and latch hardware on the finished shutter panels prior to dispatch. This service provides convenience and value to our supply chain partners reducing their costs and reducing their lead times
Maintenance – The factory’s multiple application stain and solid lacquer finishes ensure a durable and easy to maintain shutter finish which is easy to keep clean and can be touched up if required
Guarantee - All Norman external shutters are supplied with a 3 year warranty on the panel structure and colour stability
