For years we have provided the market with our hand crafted quality made to measure original wood blinds. Traditionally these original wood blinds are luxury products only afforded by more affluent consumers.
By introducing our new custom-fit original wood blind program, Norman Europe makes high quality original wood blinds accessible for everybody and offers fabricators the opportunity to profit from a much larger market segment. Besides the premium basswood blinds, which match perfectly with our whole shutter program, we have introduced Privacywood, a sleek, modern and natural looking privacy blind made from sustainable, lightweight Phoenixwood. Easy operation, tight closure, a smooth as silk finish and the best room darkening effects possible characterize these extraordinary blinds.
The custom-fit concept has proved extremely successful in the UK and USA markets where an affordable made to measure concept original wood blind is delivered to the consumer within days for ½ the price.
Norman Europe’s custom-fit concept involves sizing a MTM quality original wood blind supplied in standard widths and drops ex Norman Europe’s warehouse in the Netherlands. While the blind drop is adjusted by adding or removing slats from the blind and attaching the bottom rail.
The width of the blind is then trimmed by a purpose built custom-fit machine that trims the wood slat and steel head rail simultaneously (up to 15cm per blind). This is followed by touching up the slat and bottom rail ends with stain or paint to complete the custom-fit process.
Supporting this program is our custom-fit component program whereby Norman Europe has available in stock all the components necessary to make a matching “custom-fit” blind from components.
Materials and workmanship
Wood - Choice of premium quality basswood offering a durable and elegant finish or lightweight phoenixwood revealing a beautiful textured oak wood finish. Both treated with prescription wood conditioning greatly enhancing slat dimensional stability
Slats – quarter sawn slats which showcase deeper wood character and ensures long term blind stability, smooth operation and precise light control
Manufacturing – Made with same exceptional craftsmanship as Norman MTM original wood blinds all custom-fit blinds are also ensuring long term performance and trouble free operation
Hardware - The Norman custom-fit program utilizes many of the premium quality operational components from the MTM original wood blind program including the EZE cord lock, tilter, drum and drum support, valence clips, brackets and end caps
Finish - Durable multiple step sanding and coating system creating brilliant deep finishes on wood grains and silk smooth finish on white

Colours - Slats are available in silk white, pearl and a range of traditional and contemporary stain colours
Slat sizes – A choice of 27mm, 35mm, 50mm and 63.5mm slat sizes
Bottom rail – Innovative concealed bottom rail caps allowing better light control and preventing damage to the window sill
Head rail – Colour co-ordinated low profile steel head rail
Privacy option - A routeless slat option providing better light control and privacy
